VIRTUAL ORIENTATION COMPONENTS - SPRING

KEEP IN MIND

  • The cost for New Student Orientation is $30.
  • The New Student Orientation process is easier to complete the sooner you register.
  • Any necessary accessibility accommodations can be requested within the NSO registration form.
  • DEFERRED STUDENTS: If you were previously accepted to the U and deferred your admission with completing New Student Orientation, you are still required to complete NSO before starting classes.

ORIENTATION MODULES

 

Goal

Successfully complete the orientation Canvas course, which includes passing all five quizzes with 100%.

outcome

Your Orientation hold is removed from your student account, and you are ready to connect with your academic college for first semester course planning. You are one step closer to registering for courses!
 

actions

  • You will receive access to your Canvas course after registering for your orientation session - check your UMail for your Canvas invitation.
  • Access the Canvas course with your UNID and password.
  • You are encouraged to complete your Orientation Canvas Course as soon as possible so that you are able to continue with your New Student Orientation.

CONNECT WITH YOUR ACADEMIC COLLEGE

Goal

Connect with your academic college and plan your first semester class schedule.

 

Outcome

Once you meet with your Academic College for First Semester Course Planning, your Academic Advising hold is removed from your student account. You are ready to register for classes.

Actions

  • Review the "Connect with your Academic College & Course Registration" module in your Canvas course. This will prepare you for course registration.
  • Your academic college will provide resources -- advising appointments, Zoom sessions, and informational videos -- that will support you in planning your first semester courses.

COURSE REGISTRATION

Goal

Create your Spring 2022 schedule.

You’ve successfully completed course registration and are ready for Spring 2022. If you change your mind, return and edit your schedule as needed.

  • Reference the Course Registration video in your virtual orientation as needed.
  • Use Schedule Builder to add courses to your CIS shopping cart, and click “Finish Enrolling” to secure your class schedule.
