Academic Colleges

At the University of Utah, you can choose from over 150 majors, minors, and certificate programs. Below are the Colleges or Schools that offer undergraduate programs.

For a list of majors assigned to Colleges please click here.

What is an intended major?

Your intended major determines which college or school you would connect with to plan your first semester courses. During your New Student Orientation, to be able to register for classes, you will need to connect with your academic college for first semester course planning. Your college has created resources that will help you identify appropriate classes and support you in your transition to the U.

How do I connect with my college?

Every college operates a little differently. Be sure to pay close attention to the information provided in the Canvas course and on your academic college’s orientation website linked below.

What if I want to change my intended major?

If you do change your intended major before you start your semester, please be sure to make that change in your registration.  After the semester begins you can officially declare your major with your academic advisor.

*The Academic Advising Center supports students who are undecided on a major and assists them in exploring majors; exploring pre-health and pre-law paths; and in developing a plan for their first semester.

*The School of Medicine should be selected only by students intending to major in Medical Laboratory Sciences. Students intending on a premedicine/prehealth track may select any major.

*Admitted Honors College students should coordinate with both their Academic College AND the Honors College for their first semester schedule. It is recommended that students meet with their Academic College prior to meeting with the Honors College.

If you are having difficulties scheduling an appointment with your Academic College, please contact us.
