Travel Information

Summer 2024  New Student Orientation sessions on main campus are held in the A. Ray Olpin Student Union . If driving to campus, please follow signs to the designated parking lot (Central Garage). Walking signs and members of our staff will help direct you from the parking lot to the A. Ray Olpin Student Union.

Fall 2024  New Student Orientation sessions on main campus are held in Gardner Commons. If driving to campus, please follow signs to the designated parking lot (Central Garage). Walking signs and members of our staff will help direct you from the parking lot to the Gardner Commons.

Please note that parking for New Student Orientation is ONLY in the Central Parking Garage  just west of the Huntsman Center. The west entrance of the garage is closed off.  All vehicles parking in the garage have to enter in the top (east) entrance.  Signs have been positioned to the east entrance.  Additionally, walking path access along the shuttle road to the Union has been cleared.  We DO NOT have the ability to validate parking in any other lots, including the Union Visitor Parking Lot. Parking in non-designated areas for New Student Orientation will be subject to an additional fee or fine. 

Driving Directions to the University of Utah Campus

 

From the West/Airport

1. From the airport, take the left exit marked Salt Lake/Provo/Ogden for East I-80.
2. Continue on I-80 East to East 600 South Exit.  Head East on 600 South to 700 East.
3. Turn left (north) on 700 East.
4. Go to 400 South. Turn right (east) on 400 South. 
5. Follow 400 South past the Rice-Eccles Stadium and turn left on 1580 East (Guardsman Way).
6. Follow 1580 East (Guardsman Way) and turn right onto South Campus Drive.
7. Turn left at Campus Center Drive (1725 East) and park in the Central Parking Garage.
8. Once parked in the  Central Parking Garage, follow pathway signs.

 

From the North

1. Travel South on I-15 to the 600 South exit.  Head East on 600 South to 700 East.
2. Turn left (North) on 700 East
3. Go to 400 South.
4. Turn right (East) on 400 South. 
5. Follow 400 South past the Rice-Eccles Stadium and turn left on 1580 East (Guardsman Way).
6. Follow 1580 East and turn right onto South Campus Drive.
7. Turn left at Campus Center Drive (1725 East) and park in the Central Parking Garage.
8. Once parked in the Central Parking Garage, follow pathway signs to.

 

From the South

1. Travel North on I-15 to the 600 South exit. Head East on 600 South to 700 East.
2. Turn left (north) on 700 East
3. Go to 400 South.
4. Turn right (east) on 400 South. 
5. Follow 400 South past the Rice-Eccles Stadium and turn left on 1580 East (Guardsman Way).
6. Follow 1580 East and stay right onto South Campus Drive.
7. Turn left at Campus Center Drive (1725 East) and park in the Central Parking Garage..
8. Once parked in the Central Parking Garage, follow pathway signs to.

 

From the East/Park City

1. Travel west on I-80.
2. Exit at Foothill Drive (also says University of Utah) and head north.
3. Turn right (north) on Foothill Drive/Mario Capecchi Drive.
4. Follow Mario Capecchi Drive until South Campus Drive.  Turn left on South Campus Drive.
5. Turn right on Central Campus Drive (1800 E.) and park in the Central Parking Garage.
6. Once parked in the Central Parking Garage, follow pathway signs to.

 

From TRAX Red Line (703)

Exit TRAX at the "Stadium" station (1349 E. 500 S.). Walk north on University Street until you reach Presidents' Circle on your right. Turn right and walk to the top of Presidents' Circle. Proceed to the right side (south) of the Park Building and Student Services Building. 

*Note: If you are coming to campus on TRAX from the airport, board the Green Line (704) and ride until the Courthouse station (500 South). Transfer there to the Red Line (703), making sure the train is heading towards the University/Medical Center, not Daybreak.

 

Other Transportation Options

TRAX: 40 minute ride from Rice Eccles Stadium - $2.50 each way

Shuttle Transportation: Express Shuttle Utah - $18 one way, $36 round trip

Taxi: Cab Companies from the Airport - Approximately $25 one way

Lyft and Uber are both accessbilbe from the SLC Airport and throughout the city - prices vary
