Our Fall 2022 New Student Orientation (NSO) is scheduled to be held in person. This is subject to change based on COVID-19 restrictions. 

The registration fee for new students completing NSO is $60. Fee waivers are available for students with demonstrated need. 

Yes! We welcome your support system to join you as you transition to the University of Utah. The registration fee is $60 per guest. 

You must be fully admitted to the University of Utah as a first-year student to register for our first-year NSO. Additionally, you must pay your enrollment deposit before you can register for NSO.

If you have been fully admitted to the University of Utah and have paid your enrollment deposit, please contact our office for assistance with registering for NSO. We can be reached at orientation@utah.eduor 801-581-7069.

Each New Student Orientation has a set number of available spots that are filled on a first come, first served basis. We provide a variety of dates to accommodate the schedules of our newest students. Spots may become available throughout the summer due to cancellations/registration changes, so it is possible you will be able to switch to your preferred session.

NSO is mandatory for all incoming first-year students, and our office offers a wide range of dates to accommodate the schedules of our newest students. If you are having difficulties finding a date that fits with your schedule, please contact our office at orientation@utah.eduor 801-581-7069 to discuss your options.

Day 1 - Check-in for NSO is from 8am - 8:45am (MDT) at Gardner Commons. Students arriving after 9am will be directed to sign-up for the next available NSO session. Students should be done by 5pm on Day 1, and have optional overnight housing available.

Day 2 - students will check-in with their Orientation Leader at 8:30am and check-out for NSO will be from 11:30am - 1:00pm. There will be other services offered from 11:30am - 5:00pm (e.g. Housing tour, appointments with Center for Disability & Access, testing center, open houses).

On Day 1, from 3:30pm - 5:30pm, students can check-in for their optional overnight stay at the north doors of Kahlert Village. Students will be staying in Kahlert Village. Guests will not be permitted to stay in these units.

Students can register for additional overnight stays before or after NSO or swoop camp. Find more information here.The registration form is for NSO and Swoop Camp registered attendees only. Students paying for the additional overnight stay will be staying in Kahlert Village. If you are looking for accommodations for someone accompanying a student please visit the University Guest House & Conference Center.

On Day 1, parents will check-in from 8:00am - 8:45am (MDT) in the Spencer F. Eccles Business Building (SFEBB) southeast doors. Programming will be from 8:45am - 3:30pm. Lunch will be provided on Day 1. All sessions on Day 1 will be without your student.

On Day 2, most of these sessions will be with incoming students. Check-out for students will begin from 11:30am - 1:00pm. Optional and personalized time will be from 11:30am - 5:00pm.
