TRANSFER STUDENTS

WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH

From all of us at The Office of Orientation & Transition, congratulations on your admission to the University of Utah! Your New Student Orientation (NSO) experience is designed to help you build community, connect you with campus resources, teach you about your new home, and answer all of your questions or concerns. We know your decision to attend the University of Utah was not one you made lightly, and whether you are 5 or 5,000 miles from home, we hope your NSO session will instill a love for the U, provide you with a sense of home in your new community, and ignite your inner Utah Fan!

Let’s chat about your New Student Orientation experience! Your required NSO will help you build community by placing you in a small group of new incoming students guided by an upper-class student, also known as an Orientation Leader.  Orientation Leaders are a hand-selected group of students trained to prepare you for your first year and transition you from high school to college.  They are intimately familiar with the University of Utah and, as such, will provide opportunities to connect you with peers, hundreds of student resources and clubs, and help you discover your passions and extracurricular pursuits.  Additionally, they will support you in planning your first semester class schedule, alongside representatives from your Academic College.

Your new home sits on 1,534 acres of endless possibility. The U offers incredible opportunities and resources, including award-winning faculty and distinguished staff, state of the art buildings, nationally recognized athletics and the Mighty Utah Student Section (MUSS), an 18:1 student-to-faculty ratio, countless student involvement opportunities, and newly recognized Big 12 energy. We were also recently ranked #1 Public University in the West! At the end of your New Student Orientation experience, you will know that the University of Utah is truly the place for U.
Congratulations on achieving this impressive milestone.  We can’t wait to meet you at your New Student Orientation!
