Check-in is from 8:00am - 8:45am. If you check-in after this time, you will be directed to register for the next available NSO session. Transfer students will meet with a representative from your College, depending on your intended major, who will assist you with first semester course planning. You should be done some time between 2:00pm - 4:00pm. You will not be able to register for courses until your NSO "hold" and advising "hold" have been removed at your NSO.

You must be fully admitted to the University of Utah as a transfer student to register for our transfer NSO. Additionally, you must pay your enrollment deposit before you can register for NSO.

If you have been fully admitted to the University of Utah and have paid your enrollment deposit, please contact our office for assistance with registering for NSO. We can be reached at or 801-581-7069.

Each New Student Orientation has a set number of available spots that are filled on a first come, first served basis. We provide a variety of dates to accommodate the schedules of our newest students. Spots may become available throughout the summer due to cancellations/registration changes, so it is possible you will be able to switch to your preferred session.

New Student Orientation (NSO) is mandatory for all incoming first-year and transfer students, and our office offers a wide range of dates to accommodate the schedules of our newest students. Incoming students will not be able to register for classes until they have completed their NSO. We recommend all incoming students to register for a NSO session as soon as possible. If you are having difficulties finding a date that fits with your schedule, please contact our office at or 801-581-7069 to discuss your options.

For transfer students, we do not provide overnight housing. You are welcome to explore options close to the University like our University Guest House. If you are looking for accommodations  please visit the University Guest House & Conference Center.
