Swoop Camp Service accommodates up to 15 students, and reservations will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. We encourage you to sign up early! Swoop Camp Service is open to all first-year and transfer students, regardless of your previous volunteer experience. Moderate levels of physical activity are expected, but no special training or background is necessary to enjoy Swoop Camp!
During Swoop Camp Service, students, along with Swoop Camp staff, will visit and work in communities throughout Salt Lake City, Utah on a variety of projects that address social change and environmental justice. Swoop Camp and the Bennion Center promotes lasting service through education, open dialogue and social change. Swoop Camp provides all meals and snacks for each day and meeting dietary restrictions when needed. Swoop Camp provides your transportation from campus to the service site, and all equipment needed for each service project.
Swoop Camp staff will make contact with you six weeks before your session and will remain in communication with you until your arrival on campus. This connection before camp will ensure that all questions are answered and that you are well prepared for your Swoop Camp experience! The cost of Swoop Camp Service is $119 per student. This fee covers all transportation,
meals, and equipment for the three day and two night camp. Refunds for Swoop Camp
Service can be issued up until 14 days before the session, less $20 for administrative
fees. Within 14 days of a
registered session, no refunds will be issued.
Swoop Camp Adventure is a collaboration between the Center for New Student & Family Programs and the Bennion Center, and is staffed by professionals, graduate assistants, and undergraduate student leaders, just like you!
